1. Mysore Palace
Also known as the Amba Vilas Palace, the Mysore Palace is located in the city of Mysore, in southern India. It is the official habituation of the Wodeyars, the royal family of Mysore, and houses two stylized meeting lobbies. This royal residence is currently a standout amongst the most popular tourist attractions in India after the Taj Mahal, with more than 2.7 million visitors annually! Quite a looker it is!
2. Forbidden City, China
One of the most illustrious royal residences in the world, the Forbidden City in China was built during the years 1406 and 1420 for the then Chinese ruler of Ming Dynasty. The Forbidden City was the royal residence of Qing Dynasty as well. It is located right in the center of the city of Beijing, China, and has now become a Palace Museum. It has been home to the royal and powerful for more than 500 years. The 720,000 square meter complex is an exemplary model of Chinese Palatial designing.
3. Palace of Versailles, France
Initially built as a hunting lodge, the Palace of Versailles was built in 1624 by Louis XIII. His successor, Louis XIV extended the site into one of the largest royal residences on the planet, and from 1682, utilized it to control France by outright rule. The Palace of Versailles remained the official home of the Kings of France until October 1789, after which the royal family was compelled to come back to Paris amid the French Revolution. This site is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in the world.
4. Alhambra, Spain
Alhambra is a royal residence located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain which was initially built as a fortification in 889, and was later transformed into a royal residence in 1333 by Yusuf I, Sultan of Granada. After the reconquest by the Reyes Católicos in 1492, some segments of this complex were utilized by the Christian rulers. The Alhambra is previously one of Spain's most significant tourist spots and numerous guests come to Granada just to see the Alhambra.
5. Buckingham Palace, London
Also known as the Buckingham House, the Buckingham Palace is the official London home and the principal workplace of the British monarch. Situated in the City of Westminster, the castle is a setting for state events and illustrious hospitality. It has been a center for the British citizens time and again for national celebrations and even during the state of emergency.
