Princess Takes Delivery Of Fifth Royal-Class Cruise Ship

After months of delay, Princess Cruises took delivery of its brand new Royal-class cruise ship Enchanted Princess on Wednesday afternoon. Enchanted Princess is the 100th cruise ship built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

During a virtual event held at the shipyard, the ship was handed over to the cruise line with executives on hand from Fincantieri Monfalcone Shipyard, Princess Cruises and parent company Carnival Corporation.
Enchanted Princess was originally scheduled to debut in June but was pushed to the fall because of shipyard delays surrounding the ongoing health crisis. In July, the ship successfully completed sea trials off the coast of Italy.
“We are so proud to deliver the new Enchanted Princess today and celebrate a major milestone of completing our 100th vessel built here at Fincantieri,” said Giuseppe Bono, Fincantieri CEO. “I must acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the shipbuilding team and yard workers who changed course in new and unfamiliar ways to complete construction on Enchanted Princess during the global pandemic. Thank you to Princess Cruises for your partnership and belief in our ability to complete this complex project.”

The 3,660-guest Enchanted Princess is the fifth Royal-class cruise ship for the cruise line, joining Royal Princess, Regal Princess, Majestic Princess and Sky Princess.
First introduced on Sky Princess and now Enchanted Princess, are the new luxury Sky Suites with inclusive amenities, attentive service and a dedicated Suite Experience Manager.
In addition, Enchanted Princess features Take Five, the only jazz theater at sea, celebrating the iconic sounds, culture and history of jazz.
Last fall, Princess took delivery of sister ship Sky Princess. Sky was the first ship designed from the ground up as a Princess MedallionClass ship.
On MedallionClass ships, the OceanMedallion wearable device transforms vacations by making the entire cruise experience effortless, delivering highly personalized service, and enabling touchless interactive experiences and entertainment.
Among enhancements, guests enjoy expedited boarding, on-demand food and beverage, retail and service delivery, keyless stateroom entry, contactless payment, friends and family locator, anywhere wagering, interactive games and movies/live TV on the go.
The new addition comes after the line announced they sold both Sun-class ships, Sun and Sea Princess.
Enchanted Princess is scheduled to arrive in North America in December 2020, for a season of Caribbean cruises. The next ship set to debut is Discovery Princess in 2021.
